Jason, 19, is a “driver”, using his padyak (bicycle with a sidecar to carry passengers) to drive people around Iligan City. Since they are not really allowed to do so at daytime, he is only to work late at nights.
But it is something he needs to do, he said, “kay na ta ginabuhi (because I support people).”
Specifically, he sends two younger siblings to school, even as he doesn’t go to school himself.
Often foregoing his personal enjoyment, he said he focuses on the immediate and the day-to-day. “Unahon ang kinahanglan (Prioritize the needed),” he said. “Dili sa manguyab (Don’t find girlfriends for now).”
